New Approach to Accessing Homeless Services in Augusta

The Marion Barnes Resource Center for the Homeless

In response to the need for improved access to resources for community members experiencing issues of housing instability, CSRA Economic Opportunity Authority, Inc., is preparing to launch a new project to support homeless assistance programs in the Augusta-Richmond County area. Beginning Monday, March 6th, 2017, CSRA EOA will begin operations of the Marion Barnes Resource Center for the Homeless, located at 730 E. Boundary Street. This will include coordination of services available through the Partner Agencies of the Continuum of Care, access to mainstream resources through partnership with the local Department of Family and Children Services, and diversion and prevention assistance when appropriate to ensure as many persons avoid episodes of homelessness as possible.

Turn Back The Block and CSRA Economic Opportunity Authority, Inc. were presented with a $140,000 check from the Wells Fargo Housing Foundation today. The Priority Market grant award will support not only new, affordable home ownership opportunities through Turn Back The Block, but will also provide a means for existing homeowners in Harrisburg who are elderly and disabled to maintain their homes via home repair from CSRA EOA, Inc.
