The program is funded through a Federal Block Grant and provides financial assistance to eligible low-income households, particularly those that pay a high proportion of household income for home energy, to meet their immediate home energy needs. This is a one-time per year assistance and is available during the winter quarter. There are emergency contingency funds available pending a presidential-declared emergency due to weather, supply shortages, etc. This may be used for heating (during the winter) or cooling (during the summer). |
